We provide equitable, compassionate, patient- and whānau- centred, free-of-charge hospice care for patients, families, whānau and carers in the places they call home, and at our Inpatient Unit in Newtown.

Job Description

About the role

We are searching for a highly talented person with business or fundraising acumen to join our small and dynamic fundraising team.

As a Fundraiser - Legacy Giving/Bequests at Mary Potter Hospice, located in Newtown, you will play a crucial role within the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our vital work in providing compassionate end-of-life care. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to raise funds through legacy giving, including gifts in wills and in-memory donations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, providing excellent stewardship to ensure continued support.
  • Create compelling marketing materials and campaigns to promote legacy giving opportunities and engage with supporters.
  • Collaborate with the wider fundraising team to align legacy giving initiatives with overall fundraising goals and activities.
  • Organise events and activities specifically tailored towards legacy giving donors, fostering a sense of community and appreciation.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions using the CRM system.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation and best practices in legacy giving, ensuring compliance and ethical fundraising standards.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful you will need to

  • have proven experience in fundraising, particularly in legacy giving or planned giving
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with potential donors and supporters
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of fundraising principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations related to legacy giving/bequests and charitable donations
  • Demonstrated ability to meet financial targets and deadlines
  • Experience in using fundraising databases or CRM systems
  • Passion for the mission and values of Mary Potter Hospice
  • Flexibility to attend events outside of standard working hours when necessary
  • Full Drivers Licence
