Mary Potter Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for people living in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti. We provide equitable, compassionate, patient- and whānau- centred, free-of-charge hospice care for patients, families, whānau and carers in the places they call home, and at our Inpatient Unit in Newtown.

Job Description

About the role

Reporting to the Senior HR Advisor, you'll play a key role in delivering responsive, people-focused HR services across the organisation. You'll partner with managers and employees to provide high-quality HR coordination, administration and first-level HR advice, helping ensure our people have a positive experience from recruitment through to offboarding.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, interviews, reference checks and employment offers.
  • Delivering engaging onboarding and orientation experiences for new employees.
  • Providing first-level HR advice and support to managers and staff.
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and supporting our HR Information System (ELMO).
  • Coordinating learning and development programmes and wellbeing initiatives.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You'll be an organised and approachable HR professional who enjoys building relationships and providing excellent service.

You'll bring:

  • A qualification in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • Around 2–3 years' experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Administrator or generalist HR role.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience using HR Information Systems (ELMO experience is an advantage).
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a genuine passion for supporting people.
  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence.
